JV CHAMPIONS

(defeating Skokie 6-1)

 

VARSITY CHAMPIONS

(defeating York 3-2)

 

The Lions had a huge weekend at teh West Meadows Christmas Classic. 

On Sunday morning the JV team came out with a much improved effort to defeat the Skokie Midget minor team 6-1 to take their second consecutive West Meadows Christmas Classic.  JV rebounded after victories agasint the Renegades Midget team, Cobra JV and a loss to the Skokie Midgets in tournament play.  A strong effort at teh end of the first period and beginning of the second, had put the Lions up 5--0 half way through the game.  A great defensive effort sealed the game for the Championship.  Congratualtions to all the JV players!

 

The Varsity followed the JV game with a tough game against York who had beaten them in the previous meeting.  The Lions led most of the game until York had tied the game late sending it into overtime.  It took two overtime periods before teh Lions scored to take the championship!  A great tournament for the Varsity sending them into their final month of the season.  Congratualtions to the Varsity team for their big win!

This year the Lion's Varsity team will join the Chicago Catholic Hockey League.   The CCHL will make a perfect compliment to the Metro North schedule with games against: Notre Dame, Providence, Fenwick, Marist, Brother Rice and Mount Carmel.

 

 

The Lions JV team will be playing in the Metro Invitational Tournament this year in addition to the Metro North division. Teams include Hindsdale Central, Fremd, PREP, York, Cary Grove, Rockford, Geneva and more. The addition of these games will help solidify the JV schedule for the season.
